I've spent almost my whole spring cleaning up after tornadoes and floods here in Northern Iowa (my town was the first story for days on national news).
We've really been mashed by good old Mother Nature. I'm just now getting my silver chop out to ride. Last winter before the big snows hit, I shut the
gas off and ran the carbs dry. I usually also clean out the bowls at the same time, but I got lazy and didn't do that. When I went to start the bike last
night, three carbs were getting gas ok, but the fourth wasn't getting gas - the carb on the far left as I'm sitting on the bike. It is easy to get to,
so I took the bowl off and played with the float a little, made sure the pin at the float bowl was moving, tapped on the side of the carb, and gas started
flowing out just fine. This morning when I got ready to ride it to work, I assumed everything was fine -- until I got half way to work and realized I was
running on three cylinders because that carb wasn't getting gas again. Checked the bowl when I got to work, and no gas was in there. So, same problem
again. I know I should take all four carbs off and get to the carb without gas that way to clean it good, but I've been cooped up so long I'm itching
to ride right now and want to know if anyone knows a way I can try to "ungoo" whatever gunk is probably giving me trouble without taking all the
carbs off to get to just this one. Thanks for any help and suggestions. Ride on! Banzai7 (Jeff)
