I had my rotor turned down to 9-1/4" diameter to fit my narrow springer front end, and I am now looking at mounting a caliper. I have an old caliper with a bracket for mounting (all one piece) that is for an 11-1/2" rotor. My question is will it work to use it as is, and only have the rotor come in contact with half of the brake pad? Obviously it is optimal to have the whole pad touch the rotor, but i do not have a lot of room, and i would like to use what i have. Thanks for any questions or comments.
