The tires were manufactured on the 37th week of 2007.
The bike is kept in my air-conditioned garage. I ride 2 to 3 days a week and a normal 2up ride is 250+ miles. When I return from a ride the bike goes up on a lift for a tire inspection since I have picked up a few roofing screws (hurricane roof repairs) in the past.
The pressures get checked the following morning when cold and the rear is kept at 40 psi and front at 38 psi. Both tires looked good last night
The bike has an approximate carrying capacity of 400 lbs including accessories. I weighed every accessory as I added them and have a total accessory weight of 86 lbs (fiberglass saddlebags bags and trunk are heavy). This includes windshield, engine guards, strong saddlebags and trunk. Passenger weight is 330 lbs for the two of us. I had 35 lbs of cargo in the bags today.
Total passenger accessory and cargo was 451 lbs or 51 lbs overweight.
The temperature today was 87 degrees and I did a bit of 85 to 95 mph on Alligator alley
I put the bike up on the lift tonight and was shocked to see approximately ½ " long slits or separation in 6 grooves of the rear tire on the left side.
It is hard to believe that 51 lbs would not be included in a safety factor. I am wondering if it was a bad batch of rubber or excessive road heat.
I did read a while back that Venoms don't hold up riding 2up but forgot where I read that.
Any ideas
