• The fact that someone SPENDS x amount of dollars on something does not make that something worth x amount of dollars. I'm not sure why people struggle with this concept but if you examine this scenario long enough and earnestly enough, you'll come to the same conclusion.
• Why would you want to own that bike? If it's to ride you'd be way ahead to go buy a stock honda cruiser and stick the remaining $10K in you're pocket. I don't care who built the engine, frame, blah, blah, blah, your'e gonna get a lot more trouble free and enjoyable miles out of a factory engineered and built bike.
• Investement - Not often does a vehicle appreciate, especially short term. Yea, I know if you'd bought a 19xx so and so and put it away till now it'd be worth a zillion dollars but if you'd put that same amount into an index or mutual fund for the same time you'd have come out even better.
• Because you want your friend to think you're cool? You can ride up to my shed on any bike you want but it you didn't build it, you get zero cool points. I don't care how much it cost. A well engineered daily rider commands a whole lot more respect in my book.
