So once again our faithful court system has disappointed me and affected the rest of my life. As most of you know, a few years back, the wife and I had a spiff, which in the end I was arrested and charged with domestic. No I didn't beat her up like they made it out to be in the police report, but she did get slapped after she punched me in the nose. Needless to say, I hired an attorney to get it dropped for fear of losing my right to own a gun! I was not running from the fact that I did it, I openly admitted it, but didn't feel I should suffer the rest of my life for it. Long story short, my attorney got it dropped to a simple battery, 18 mos conditional discharge, 50 hrs com service, and anger management, along with fines. With this agreement he said I would still have my rights to gun ownership. Guess what? WRONG! Tina and I both applied for our FOID cards (firearm owners identification card required in IL, lame I know), she got hers about three weeks ago. I finally called state police today and was denied because I was convicted of domestic violence! I'm so pissed right now! If my lawyer doesn't get this fixed, I'll never be able to hunt with a gun again, won't be able to enjoy it with my daughters, or even be able to just go shoot at the range with my buddies! Waiting for him to call me back tomorrow and see where it goes. If he blows me off, im going to sue him for misrepresentation because I have the email where he stated I would still have my rights!
