oldhemi..it would be very difficult to do thin stuff, IE 20 gauge or thinner, as i believe the welder their talking about, only goes down to 30amp...the best shot you`d have at pulling it of, would be defiantly using the gas, getting on and off the trigger, and using the push method..
now, oddley enough, alot of the 110 welders, don`t go much lower then 30amp either..although some may dip down to 20 amp..only the real high end VERY expensive machines, are able to dial down to infinity so to speak..as my bro that has been a welder forever said one day..he can adjust his machine so low, he could weld tin foil, or set it so high, he could weld 1/2inch steel with ease..LOL
P.S..his machine is so large and fancy, it`s water cooled..LOL..stands about 6FT tall...4 ft wide, and several feet deep...All that said..Nice score JPS!! your gonna have a blast wth that machine!
