Can the crank oil seal behind the breaker plate be changed without splitting the cases?

I posted about this a bit ago and I think 222ct or dtmmil or someone said they put one in and then put rtv on it. It's not the right way and it crushes the
seal, but if you need a quick fix, that may be the way to go. How did it start leaking? Is this on the new bike?

Yeah, it started dripping last night and I'm blue. I don't have the time to break it all down and get everything else done before the party. Anyone
else?

RTV it and see what happens. Is it leaking from the outer seal area or from where the crank sticks out? I ask this over on the SOHC board too and they said it
will ruin the seal to put it in with the cases closed. I tried. A lot, but every which way looked like it would just mash up the seal. I really hope some rtv
will help. Maybe even double check the torque on the crank bolts. Good luck Bill.

Make sure that it does not have a rolled lip at the crank , if it does chances are you can roll it back in with a pick . Gently !! If not then clean it really
good with Brakekleen and then rtv it and wipe any off the crank , and let cure till hard . You can smear it out onto the case /seal joint no problem , just not
on the seal/crank joint . Good luck .Red

cases?

Looking at the seal, the leak is on the crank side of the seal. I can see the seal spring against the crank. The seal is metal lined and I don't believe it
can be dug out without hurting the cases. Anyone ever pulled this off? I believe it needs to be taken apart to replace it. So unless something changes I
won't be bringing this chop to the party. Believe me I'm not happy with this situation. What else can be done?

Try it, what's to lose but the cost of another seal? I have replaced many crank seals on 2 strokes without cracking the cases, just be careful and use a
seal driving tool, such as a large socket...
