Hey so I am trying to static set my timing going off Houndogs directions from here, and
no matter where I move the plates its showing 0 resistance this is with the red from my multimeter on the bottom points and the black on the round thing the
wires are bolted to with the wires pulled off not touching anything. Now if I have the black on the spring itself it stays on infinante resistance. What the
hell am I doing wrong and how do I fix it. I cant seem to get this shit strait and im ready to blow it up. I cant seem to figure it out. So frustrated im ready
to push the bike off a cliff. Oh and as far as gaping what is the feeler gauge I should use I set it at .30 to .40.

.016-.018 for gap and be sure to turn the motor and watch the points gap and only set them at their widest /most open point .

Some of you guys get wound up and give in way too fast. I guess my bike would have gone over a cliff a thousand times if I had not been the sole owner.
Points at 0.012" to 0.016". If the points were not gapped first go back and do that. No wires on the points (condenser and coils disconnected), one meter lead on the spring, the other on the points backing plate. It doesn't matter red or black as long as the leads are connected as shown in the pic (which puts one lead on either side of the points contacts). If the points never open the gap is too small, if they open too early or stay open the gap is too large.
It was Honda first, all through the middle, and if I have my way, till the end as well. Someone's
gotta ride the "Plain Jane Cheapos".
I'd rather give someone a tool than a solution. Give them an answer and they'll always expect it. Teach them how to find the answers for themselves and they will spend a lifetime learning. |

Im not giving in I just joke too much! So turns out I was gaping points at wrong place I was following my manual I have and It said refer to figure 42 where
there is a picture of the 1-4 fire mark lined up so I had assumed you set the point gap with the crank lined up there. Any ways I got it working and set again.
However Im still having hard starting. Thats another topic though! Thanks fellas.
