Sure.. Its just that when you heat the casting, all of the porosity under the surface pops and its hard to get rid of all the pin holes around the weld..
Thats as problem if youplan to chrome it ..or polish it. But if gets painted .. should be no problem...
Build it the way you want it ..... then learn how to ride it like you own it..

Castings are usually A-356 and it TIG welds nice.
Use A-356 or 5356 filler rod, V the joint with carbide burrs or files, wipe down with alcohol, then preheat to 300-350 degrees and weld If the part had a temper, say T-6, welding on it will anneal it, it will have to be reheat heat treated and artificially aged never prep joints by sanding, it imbeds grit into the joint and will cause porosity........ |

I had a cast aluminum shifter linkage for my truck welded a few weeks ago. The shop charged me $35 and it came out great!
