can i press valve guides out and in myself? i doubt it would be dificult but i dont know. i see that ape sells them already sized for the valve. so that means
press old ones out and new ones in.

Heat the head , shoot something cold through the guides , should be able to push them right out . ( if they don't fall out on their own ) I would use
starting fluid to cool the guides . Those guides " allready sized for the valves " will change size some when you put them in . I imagine they would
have to be reamed some to fit the stems , no matter what the ads say .

Buy the guides and bring them and the head to an automotive machine shop.
You'll get a far better job and most likely save money too. I sure love swimmin' with bow legged women! |

hey... you sure can..
i did a couple the other day.. took about 5 mins a pop. you just need the driver.. i made one from a 12inch bolt... turned it down to 5.45mm x 75mm.... used a blow torch.. heated the guide... bashed it out. installation is basically the reverse.. heat the head.. chill the guide... and tap it back in. cheers marki |
