We did a poker run and silent auction for a friend in need. The poker run did fairly well but it was advertised well in advance. People made donations to the silent auction held at a local bar. The turnout was good and also generated funds. The trick is planning well in advance. Contacting the bars, shops, or other place where the start, stops, and end are. Half the money from the run went to the winner, but the winner turned around and gave the money back. All in all it did very well. Plan well in advance and do a lot of advertising. We put up flyers wherever we could, put ads in the local papers, and posted on cycle forums. Did I mention plan well in advance and advertise like hell? Biggrin

I'd rather give someone a tool than a solution. Give them an answer and they'll always expect it. Teach them how to find the answers for themselves and they will spend a lifetime learning.
As for my mental state?
