Which carbs are you running? Pods and open headers usually means two steps up on mains (and sometimes even baffled hi perf 4-1s), but that's a general rule of thumb. Normally starting needle clip position is the center slot.

If it still leans out a bit with fatter mains in the mids but perks up again towards top RPMs then mains are probably close and the needle clip needs to go down one slot. A little fat in the mids but right at top RPMs then the clip needs to go up one slot.

That's some good stuff Paladin. I've bookmarked that page. I usually set idle mixture after bench sync as idle mixture will also affect final vacuum sync.

I'd rather give someone a tool than a solution. Give them an answer and they'll always expect it. Teach them how to find the answers for themselves and they will spend a lifetime learning.
