I use the CLR to remove corroded plating and loosen rust on the steel and the hard deposits left by decomposing gas only. It does make cleaning, shining, and polishing much easier, but the shiny there is all by hand. No quick and easy way to do that unfortunately.

I try not to leave the castings in any longer than 10 to 15 minutes. Only long enough to remove the hard deposits solvent based dips will not.

I'd rather give someone a tool than a solution. Give them an answer and they'll always expect it. Teach them how to find the answers for themselves and they will spend a lifetime learning.
As for my mental state?
