You can still buy muriatic (hydrochloric) acid at most Sears Hardware stores if that is what you are after. That's what some folks used to dip carbs in. Most older carb dips were extremely acidic. I've been using the Berrymans for gum and buildup and it does extremely well. I have a 5 gallon can of Zep parts cleaner outside but would not want to leave any cast aluminum carbs in it for too long.

I'd rather give someone a tool than a solution. Give them an answer and they'll always expect it. Teach them how to find the answers for themselves and they will spend a lifetime learning.
