I know this doesn't help if you get smacked by a firetruck, BUT, In every FIRE department (VOL)  the emergency vehicles are SUPPOSED to follow the same laws as you and I.. If the light is RED to them, they are to ,at the minimum slow down to where they can stop if a vehicle is in the intersection. Had a very LARGE lawsuit in a department in WA state ,where a firetruck ran a red light and hit and killed a person in a car. VERDICT was firetrucks have to follow all traffic laws but the police give them leeway because of the situation!!!
