In your limited experience

No, seriously. all of my SOHCs were built/purchased within the last 2 years or so, & stuff I did in my "yout" was all over the place, brandwise. I've never split a SOHC case and only had jugs off once. I'm also a freak'n illiterate with carbs. Most of my knowledge is general or on other bikes so you'll notice I usually have to limit myself to electrical stuff, mechanical with brand x's & other book learnin'.
On your motor you can pretty much assume the oil pressure is unrelated to the compression issues. If the "engine restorer" is a thickener it'll raise your oil pressure and in some case reduce oil burning from oil sneaking past the rings. (A couple boxes of jellow, some cornstarch, and a tube of grease would help do that also if you get my drift:lol )
Low oil pressure usually comes from a worn oil pump or oversized (from wear) oil routes. Low compression usually comes from leaking valves (sticking stems, worn/pitted seating surfaces, etc.) or blowby past the piston from a worn bore and/or worn or broken rings.
