A little FYI about the PO's REAL reasons for their money problems, that you won't hear made public by them. 1) they do have to prefund their Retirement, but... why is because had they not been made to do so way back when, that money would be gone now. Just like they are trying to get their hands on it now. They claim they "accidently" over paid into it. How many of us would still have a job somewhere if we "accidently" over spent that much of the companys money?! 2) The Post Master General of the PO is NOT, never has been, and never will be, a Postal Employee. He is a Political Appointee, Appointed by the President. Yet he is paid $252,000, plus was given a $600,000 BONUS last year. Meaning that $852,000 of last years so called Deficit, was do directly to the salary one ONE Political Appointee. 3) The PO still continues to Promote Minoritys and Women into Positions that they have never even worked in. My Hispanic Supervisor has never even had a CDL, or drove a Truck, yet he was put in charge of 17 Professional Truck Drivers. And of the 9 key Supervisors at the main PO in Toledo Ohio, only 1 is a white male. And atleast half of them that I know of personally have never done the job they are in charge of. This goes all the way back to the "Affimitive Action Requirements" of the late 1960's and early 1970's. So when you wonder why your mail is so messed up sometimes, just ask your Letter Carrier if his Supervisor ever even carried mail. Probably atleast half of them never have. And 4) Management Positions have their Pay Levels raised every so often, since they no longer get "Pay for Performance Bonus's". But geuess how much that increase from one pay step to the next works out to be? Wanna guess? The SAME as the Bonus would have been! But those are the kind of things you have to work their to know. And I know because I've worked there 31 yrs now. I'm just saying... NEVER believe what anybody in Postal Management says! In fact, Postal Rates could actually be LOWERED if not for some of the above mentioned actions by the PO.
