Just wanted to thank y'all for the info in this post.  I put some K&S points in last winter and had to modify to get them to work.  Recently I've been having trouble with the idle and my 2 & 3 cylinders would cut out some.  Yesterday 2 & 3 quit so I checked coils, coil wires, plug boots, wiring, gaps and on and on.  Couldn't find anything.  I had it running on 1 & 4 and started poking on the points with a screwdriver and 2 & 3 fired up.  When I pushed the pivoting part in it would fire - when I let go it would quit.  Looks like the shaft or bushing on the points has some slack.  Never would have suspected the points if I hadn't read this thread.  K&S should stand for kickin and screamin.
