Sorry to hear this!

Elwood was great old ornery coot. I remember hanging with him a couple of years ago. The young BIG Rottweiler male next door wanted no part of him! I had a hell of a time keeping Elwood from crawling under the fence to get at that Rotty. One time he got the better of me, got under the fence and I had visions of explaining to Kate how her dog got maimed or worse on my watch. But, Elwood chased that Rotty away with some big growls. Elwood came back to me after his show of force w/o much coaxing and the Rotty kept his distance from then on.

He was good with cats, old folks, little dawgs and everyone in general. Even at his advanced age, he just knew that his job was to be a protector.

I really liked that dog and I offer Kate and Red my sincere condolences on their loss.

Sometimes in life you're the dog, sometimes you're the tree. Life isn't fair and we're all assholes on some level or another. The best any of us can do is not leave our drinks unattended. image
