I used a jigsaw to cut out 16 gauge for my oil tanks ends as well as my battery tray and other little stuff. I have a Dewalt handheld jigsaw, I would make sure that you have plenty of metal cutting blades on hand in case you chew them up. When I was cuttin out my 5 inch circles for my oil tank the biggest pain in the butt was keeping the piece real close to an edge as I cut because it would start to bounce like mad and get unruly If I didn't.
Good advice..if your gonna use a jig saw...walk it along the edge of a board/counter top etc...or..snatch up a real thin peice of wood, and just cut the wood along with the metal...(may wanna wear some of them heavy duty yard working gloves!)

I`ve used an angle grinder before also..but not sure how well that would work out in tight turns..I did a somewhat sharp curve..but not a real tight turn..
