you will need a good torque wrench. Ring expander i think you meant to say. You dont really need one but everyone has their preference. You will need a feeler guage to check your ring gap prior to installing the rings on the piston. Don't forget gaskets and o-rings. I also would recommend lapping the valves while the head it off. Its not difficult but does require a little labor. For this you need a spring compressor and a lapping tool (or i use my cordless drill and chuck the stem in to lap). You will also need some laping compound (aka grinding compound or grinding paste or something like that). You will need locktight for the bolts that go into your cam gear. That's all i can think of. I plan to put my engine back together tomorrow. They really arent difficult to do. just take your time, dont force anything, dont over torque and strip bolts, use lube, and keep everything super clean and get all you gasket surfaces clean. After you do one you will be a pro.

Oreilly use to have a engine rebuild rental tool kit. It had everything except the torque wrench and ring expander. Seems liek $180 deposit but you get your money back when you return it. Then they also had a nice torque wrench that you could rent for another $150 but you also got a refund on that as well. Problem with the big torque wrenches is they can be too big for these small bolts. I personally do all my torques by feel except the critical stuff like rods, mains, and heads.
