Exactly Tom, It is possible to remove annodizing but you gotta remove the top layer. My experience is that it acts like a stain sinking into the top layer. But with LOTS of wear and tear it slowly is deminished. In particular, we used to wear the coating off on the sides of our BMX bike rims where the brake pads would eventually remove a layer from the sides of the rim. But that stuff sure looked incredible with a bright brilliant color that looked like candy.

If I can get my carbs done like this for less than an arm or leg, I'm in! Gas should have zero effect on its staying power too!
