23tbucket: I do the normal prep ie: glass blasting, outgassing and I use denatured alcohol instead of brake clean as it seems to work better. I do bolt the cases together but I use a green gasket material that is used for steam heating systems between them as a break point (I only put 4-5 bolts in though). After I mask the rest of with high temp tape I put the whole thing in the oven and heat it up to 300 deg. which reopens the pores in the metal and lets the last of the trapped gasses escape. I then pull it out and wait for it to cool to about 180 deg. (any cooler and the pores close and trap the gasses again) then spray a even thin coat and wait for it to melt out (about 1 min) then spray another thin but a little thicker coat. Put it in the oven and cure according to the manufaturers cure table. I use Caswell Platings wrinkle black as it matches the black on the Harley night trains. I also use Tiger Drylacs for a more agressive wrinkle.

I have had nice results doing it this way.
