If you shorten your springs without shortening the travel in the dampening rods .. you will probably bottom out .. maybe even hit the fender or tire on the bottom tree if you hit a hard enough object..

To do it right .. you should space the lower dampening rods as well.. ( not simply cut the springs)..

Or..use shorter tubes with shorter springs..

You can get the tubes up a short distance .. like 1 or 1.5 inches befiore you hit the handlebars...

The good thing about sliding the tubes up in trees.. is the cost.. its freee..

But to have you tubes cut and threaded could cost some machine shop time....

Build it the way you want it ..... then learn how to ride it like you own it..
