My bike has 36 degrees of rake, and the trail figure is approaching 8". I did alot of reading up on rake and trail and was worried about the trail being 8". Going by the "experts" it should be unresponsive, slow, and have heavy steering. Nothing could be further from the truth. When I first rode it I was pleasantly surprised. I can take off in first gear, let the engine idle and spin around the parking lot with one hand easily. I can go around sharp 90 degree turns with one hand as well....a common occurance with hand signals only. Its very responsive, which is good because the road around here suck and I'm always dodgin potholes. Its rock solid out on the open road too. Like I said I am very pleased with it. Don't think about it too much. As long as you don't have negative trail, or the handlebars don't just flop over to the fork stop at the slightly nudge......then I wouldn't worry about it that much. Worst case if the steering is too heavy, you'll have to get some rakes tree. But try out what you have first.
