Not necessarily...Squish is good......That is just the easiest place to tell if the slides are all closing at the same moment. You will have to loosen the 10mm nut and adjust them all equally...making sure to lock each one down when moving to the other....It takes practice but it works. After they are all locked down...you'll have to take it our riding and adjust the big idle screw at red lights till it's right. I usually adjust that screw everytime I take it out but that's because I never let it warm up before taking off so usually mine will gradually idle up as the motor warms up and after a couple miles which equals about 6 red lights ...LOL...I end up backing off to bring the idle back where I like it.....I'm impatient with the choke..... lol

If one of the slides are a hair off it will do exactly what your saying......If the bike is running hot it can have changes in idle also....I had one that gave me fits......I finally replaced the number 3 carb and it went away...then I put a push cable on it too so if it did it again, I would just roll the throttle back forward and it would force the slides down....never had a problem with that bike again. That bike is my dads.

P.S. you should have about 2 threads visible above the slides
