Yeah, lose the on-board light and there'd be no patent infringement.
Chevy already holds a patent on the adjustable points.
Why is it that an oil painting of boobies is art and a photograph of boobies is porn?

Well......checked at Auto Zone, O'Reillys, Advanced ......can't come up with anything as far as the points go. Everything is too large. We went back to
the early 70's....Belaire...camaro....Pontiac GP...just about everything. No dice.
Just so I'm clear on what has to be done when you changed out the points....is it a direct swap or do you have to modify the points plate .....or is the points a simple drop-in swap? I'm just not coming up with anything. tatanka |

no one has done it yet with a stock plate......you will have to locate center and then drill and tap the plate to screw the points to it.....NOT a direct
replacement. I heard they use old (50's-60's) Corvette style points. Or buy this guys for the hundred bucks.

The guy sure sounds like a used car salesman.....LOL......and some of his selling pitches are really exaggerated but If you decipher most of the BS you still
come to the conclusion that these are better points and condensers than stock Hondas and after looking at the rivets....I'm pretty convinced that the
points are secured adequately to do the job with no problem.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Kawasaki-Z1-KZ900-KZ1000-GPZ1100-Points-w%2Ftiming-light_W0QQitemZ250267573779QQcmdZViewItem?IMSfp=TL0807071368r20393 I bought them because I run Dyna 3ohm coils (great coils) and regular points weren't holding up. Dyna S don't like me so I can't run them either. I do have a Boyer Brandsden too but that is for another project. I think for guys running stock coils and stock wiring should just stick to Honda points.....there's really nothing wrong with them as long as you do regular maintenance. For guys running hot coils.....you now have the option to run either EI or points. As a repairman that deals with electronics and mechanics daily I can tell you without a doubt that mechanical things can be temporarily rigged to keep running....electronic circuit boards can't. I do commercial air conditioning/ heating work and it's easy to jump out a mechanical relay or contactor or switch to keep a customer cool or warm till you can return with the right part...but... when one of the newer pieces of equipment go down it's impossible because everything is soldered to a circuit board and that means you can't temorarily rig it.....you have to replace it and that means the customer might be down for a couple days till the part is located, picked up and installed. So my opinion might be biased a bit. lol I guess I'm old school.....(yea I hate that label too) lol |

Mine just arrived today. The plate is a little flimsy (aluminum) but all in all a decent start.
The points are early 70's V8 chevy but not high quality either. The timing light is a novelty at best and not a necessity. That said I believe I can modify the design to correct what I believe is his big design flaw. That's the inability to time each coil independent of the other. Using dwell to change the timing isn't the best method in my opinion. I've got a couple ideas and I'm gonna get my friend to help with a prototype plate.

uuummm....maybe I'm missing something, but can't you jsut drill and tap the plate to bolt some "chevy" points right to it?????
the position doesn't matter as much as allowing space for gap adjustment........ |

All the talk about the points, where do the condensers mount? Assuming one would need to run different ones.

the condensers mount on the back of mine some are on front.

71, the "position" is what sets your timing. So, position is everything.

It's just a plate with points.....not much different than a stock honda.
The aluminum plate would disipate heat faster.....that's a good thing. |

Watch it Guy's. If they ship you a BROKEN ONE the seller won't do shit about it. Here is his reply. Mind you the box arrived perfect so the Post Office
will do nothing and I 'm out 105.00.
Please take your package to the U.S. Post Office. The item is insured. There is nothing that I can do here. Got it? The item is in your court. Call the Post Office for instructions. I don't have the package, you do. |
