IMPORTANT News! First a little (and fairly minor but important to know) bad news. Unfortunately, the fine rural community that is home to the Farmington Dragway has some of the local population concerned about the arrival of the HORSE "Invasion." We can roll with the punches and all I can say is that it will be a great event ... but we have to limit camping. There will be ONLY 450 PEOPLE ALLOWED TO CAMP ON THE DRAGSTRIP GROUNDS. One, we are more disappointed in that than anyone. Two, if you want one of those spots you better pre-register for camping right away. If you arrive and camping on the grounds is sold out, we will have strip maps available to other campgrounds in the area.

The second change is that events will not start until 11:30 am on Saturday (an hour and a half later than originally planned) but both of these are small concessions to pull off the greatest chopper event in the history of chopperdom.

The Sunday only SWAP MEET is still on. We will have an area set aside where anyone with a wristband can set-up one regular sized folding table to sell off used parts. What you can sell is pretty open but there are prohibited items- no food, drink or live sacrificial animals. You cannot sell anything that is really offensive (as determined by Hammer). There is no charge to set up one table.

NOW THE GOOD NEWS. We have added a Thrill Show with Thrill Kill Jill and Stephen Frye... fire eating and sword swallowing kind of stuff. We have the Columbia, SC and Charlotte, NC Roller Derby teams battling it out on Saturday. Sassy vixens that can skate and throw a punch... oh yea.

The dates for the 2008 Smoke Out are:

Friday June 20th - starting at 5 pm and going to 11pm
Saturday June 21st - 11:30 am to 11pm
Sunday 10 am to 3 pm

The new location is the Farmington Dragway off I-40 a bit East of where I-40 crosses I-77. Take exit # 180 off Interstate 40 and go north on 801 for six miles... you will run right into it. The closest towns are Mocksville and Clemons.

Drag Racing. As the venue name implies we will also have the new addition of 50's style drag racing. The plan is not to have wheelie bar, air-shifter, timing light and timer type of drag racing. The plan is to be able to run what the average Joe rides in on. No timers. No prizes or anything... just find someone you think you can beat and line them up. The hottest lady in the shortest skirt waves a scarf and you're off.

Cost to enter will be as follows:

Wristband good for Fri, Sat and Sunday: $35 per person at the gate, $ 30 if you pre-register (pre-registration starts March 1st). There is no Friday only pass because it gets way too complicated and we would need like a million different colored wristbands - sorry.

Saturday Only - $ 30 per person at the gate, there is no pre-registration rate for Sat only wristbands.

(Many of you may be wondering if your Saturday only wristband would get you in Sunday morning and yes - it will - but don't bring that up. We have a special Sat only rate --and that is the point that we are trying to get across here.)
