do you mean a plug for the engine? you can use jb weld to seal it up...
Obey the Easter Bunny....

Go to an auto parts store and get a rubber expansion plug, I think it was an 1 1/8" I used and ground down the rubber part a little bit to fit. I think
there is a thread in the garage section about it.

I think a stern plug for a boat is the right size.

Hell you could do the cheap way out and just remove the gear under the stator cover that actualy connects the starter to the engine and then cut off the wire.
Problem solved and hey the lid bolts to the starter motor so if you leave it in there you can put your lid back on.

thanks guys Ill look for the rubber plug. I didn't know the cover bolted to the starter , leaving the starter in but not using it would defeat the purpose
of weight savings.

I got my battery in there.
I pulled the ends off the starter and used them to bolt the cover to, I'll put some pics up soon. "Done? Yeah it's
done!"

yes indeed it is one of LRT's reg/rec combo. i had a piece of flat bar that had 2 holes drilled in it laying around and made a bracket for it and it fit
perfectly. there is a bolt on the reg/rec to the bar underneath it and the other hole for the bar went in to one of the empty starter screw holes there you
can see it if you look close.
the thing with the jb weld is that the surface has gotta be completely clean and dry and i scuffed the surface with some med grit sandpaper and clean again. was easy to do with the cases split... i just used another piece of steel cleaned it up and scuffed it just the same and be clean. nice generous amount of the weld on the steel and the case surface around the hole. there was enough weld that it ran down in the hole also. so it is pretty thick. it cured for like a month also. having that starter in there for nothing really bothered me. whoever built my bike before removed all the gears on the crank. so the starter just sat there and bothered the F out me. i went to go hook the starter up when i did my rewire and took the side cover off and the gears were nowhere to be found. there is a hole in the crank that needs to be plugged also an oiler of some sort. if you take those crank gears off you will have to remedy that. some models did not have that though. i am not sure. whoever built my bike before took off the alternator and slid a piece of aluminum ring over the hole. it just sits there and spins freely slides back and forth. oil still oils out of there but without something slowing it down i believe the oil pressure getrs too low.
