I used a set on my motor, it is stock displacement. I have run them over 2 seasons, no leaks.

only final sin is stupidity.

make sure the rubber pucks are in good shape. There are 6 of them......If they leak they will make a mess.
Also make sure the rubber oil rings are under the cam towers..... there are 2 under each one. The 2 inner ones should have the restrictors also. Then there are the 2 rubber o-rings under the jugs in the back. Oh yea and the 2 oil o-rings between the cylinders and head. Those are the passage for oil to the top end. |

I could be wrong......
but the way I see it when it comes to the stretch factor...the bolts would`nt become soft, and just keep stretching...maybe after years and years of being under torque, they may have stretched a tad.., but it seams as though, if you did a recent torque on um..they`d be just as tight as they should be.. if it does`nt seam to leak 71, I`d call it good and run er.. 74rat when in doubt..knock`um out...H.C.C.M.F LOCAL 6978 Flint Michigan..3rd most dangerous city in the USA..come back and visit us..sorry we "missed" you the first time..LOL |

yeah rat, I'm just gonna run it and see what happens......if it leaks again, it'll get torn down and new studs installed.
I see what you're sayin with the stretch.......it'l interesting to see how much it continues to stretch......hate to have one pop on the trip to the WHCM. When I was doing the retorque, I remembered an article by "the car guys" about 'torque plus stretch' and I though they advocated loosening the bolts then retorqing to spec..... it got me thinkin about the 30 year old studs and what kind of elasticity they have before failure.......as in, how long will it take them to stretch the maximum for the retorque....and will that maximum exceed break point. I just hate that shit ya know?......you been through a motor, get it all back together......cruisin down the road at a considerable clip.....then it starts.....the slight doubt creeps in....is that alright?, is that to spec?......is shit gonna blow out the case in a second or two!!!!???? LOLOL!!! |

To each his own and sometimes they go back together just fine.
That said I still won't take that chance for an 80 dollar bill. I've broken too many of them and had too many piss like a Harley with them old studs. |

Probably!!! I think everyone has one of those "did I tighten THAT bolt moments!!!?" |

the one I'm rebuilding now I'm gonna go slightly under the torq spec, to avoud breaking/overstretching...I think it'll be fine

R7, on assembly a little motor oil on the threads and between the nuts and washers really helps.
It reduces any friction so the studs don't "twist" and go snap. |
