Carb orientation for float measurement |
Lead | |
|
How are the carbs supposed to be oriented when you measure the float height? On their noses, upside down, on their backs, floats fully compressed, fully
unloaded, etc.? I'm way confused. I've read this, and the
picture provided wasn't exactly helpful to me.

about a 60 deg angle you want the float tang just resting on the needle but not pushing it in
twist the throttle until the thrill of speed overwhelms your fear of death

Thank you, sir.
If I may beg everyone's indulgence once again, could someone tell me how bad it is that the carb on the right in this picture is missing the indicated brass(?) insert that the other carb has? The carb on the right has a serious overflow problem, hence my initial question regarding the float level. |

I'm a flake and forgot which thread, but like 74Rat says: Cool!
It was Honda first, all through the middle, and if I have my way, till the end as well.
Most people say what they'll do. Very few actually do what they say. |

The number 4 carb has that same thing if you look at it. It's not missing, it's that way on purpose, that doesn't vent out that side of the carb.
If you look closely you will see that carb 1 and 2 are joined in the center by a small line and on the other side of number 2 is where the venting takes place
for both. Same thing with 3 and 4.

Thank you again, gentlemen. That makes me feel a whole lot better knowing it's not something else that's wrong.
