tire/wheel question |
Lead | |
|
what is the widest tire I can safely put on a 3" and 3.5" rim? right now there is a car tire which I have no problem running, but it is old...not
cracked, but who knows what shape it is in...want a new tire for the trip to NC. I know I ran a 150-90-15 on my last invader...it was wedged in there, but it
worked fine for a few years before I sold the wheel...just want someones opinion.

The width is going to be dependent on the diameter of the wheel. I'm running a 170 on a 3.5 by 15 inch wheel. It's actually what came on the wheel
from the factory.

My father has been running elites on his superglide for years and is very happy with them. I don't have any experience with the others.

I'm putting a 160/80/16 on my 3 inch rim. Tire guy says it will work fine. Says the book calls for a 3.5 but a 3 will work.

found that alot of tires really dont have the same size...I looked a 4 different 140-90-16 tires ranging from 5.51" to 6.19" wide...thats a big
difference when youa re trying to squeeze in next to the chain...I went with the dunlop 404...5.85" wide where my current tire is an even 6" should
fit fine then. thanks guys. lesson learned...140 isnt always 140...hell I even found that the 150 d404 was smaller than the 140 d404...cant imagine why.

I like my Kendas....especially the ride of them, but found the Kenda Kruz makes a better back tire than the Challenger because it's a little harder without
sacrificing ride or handling.
