Sometimes they'll stick when there's no lube on the cam where it
passes thru the backing plate. You should have a little brake lube on the cam as well.

Really,,,It is usually the leading edge anyhow.... If the glaze is off the drum, the shoes are cool,,,everything is clean and good to go, it shouldnt stick...I
did get a bike from a cat that had the big ass return spring missing from the lever(foot pedal rod). The one that goes behind the frame on the actuation rod
for the rear brake. Once I put one on it worked good...Wonder If my spring is dicked up..

my brake locks on when you apply it at a stop......sometimes it will break free if you roll back, but not usually. I almost always have to kick the arm on the
drum to pop it free.
it can only be a few things...... 1) shoes are worn out. 2) drum is worn out. 3) cam lobes are worn out. my buddy suggested welding some more material onto the cam......... I'll probably just inspect the cam, mic the drum and toss on another set of shoes.........I don't wanna buy another set though at $45.00each. |

oh, and just another trouble shooting clue.......when it comes free (I kick it free) it pops back with a notable ting as if the cam has overspun and is stuck
on the shoe feet.

45 bucks....damn!!! I haven't had to look for new shoes yet..... Hell, and I was thinking CB parts were cheap so far. LOLOLOLOO
