That's funny! Every guitarist back then was a Jimi wannabe. After all, it was Jimi who popularized the over the top gain, feedback, harmonics, and freeform leads. Never heard Trower described as a Jimi wannabe though. There again, I wasn't much of a crowd kindof person so I was never influenced by conventional or popular opinion, just the music itself.
Oh yeah! Heap, Canned Heat, King Crimson, Deep Purple, oh, the memories come flooding back!
