Used air to blow it out, seems like theres still some particles left. What do you guys do?

I knew one guy who did this. He put a big handfull of buckshot into his tank. Wrapped the tank in an old blanket. Then put it in the clothes-drier (heat off)
for like 30 minutes so it just spun and thumped around.
BUT, yeah, muriatic acid is good stuff. I use "The Works" toilet bowl cleaner. Search for it on here, I recently posted the process. With any acid (phosphoric, muriatic, etc) you have to neutralize it when you're done and then coat the inside of the tank with a bit of oil. |

My wife would kill me if I put a tank in the dryer. That's worse than putting shoes in there the way they can beat up the dryer drum.

If you can get phosphoric acid, it will work better than the muriatic acid. Muriatic acid (hydrochloric acid) will attack the good metal under the rust.
Phosphoric acid will only eat the rust and will leave the clean steel.
The acid wash that body shops use is mosly phosphoric acid with a bit of rust inhibitor added. It works great for gas tanks.

Here's the process Jleather outlined. Gonna have to try it myself. I
have three or four stock tanks to try it on. Sure cheap enough.
It was Honda first, all through the middle, and if I have my way, till the end as well.

i put a handful of old nuts, small bolts and washers in mine with a little bit of water, shook it around forcefully, turning it upside down and all directions.
Let it sit for a couple minutes, empty the tank, rinse well and repeat until the water is running out clear. Then I used one of the por15 tank liner kits which cleans the tank, etches it and coats it
with some type of sealer. It's been rust free for over 4 years now.

A 1 dollar bottle of the works toilet bowl cleaner... Eats rust off your pluming fixtures instantly!!! Well it does the same thing in a tank... Buy the liquid
and not the gel... And wash it out real good right after with plenty of water and then blow dry completely and seal... Or fill right away to keep from further
rusting... Atleast that's how I do it anyway.
