Not sure the name of it, but its the 10mm nut on the end of the shaft your points cam/electronic ignition/advancer goes. The one on the inside of the large nut. Is there a trick to it? Is it stripped off? Is the dremel my answer here?

Is this broke? Points shaft bolt... |

I have a problem. I am trying to get this thing loose and it is just spinning. The nut is spinning but the threaded shaft is not. I had a big problem with
the bike running like ass, similar to how a blown head gasket could make a bike run, could this do it? (I would guess yes since it may affect the tension on
the electronic ignition part on the shaft)

I tried both ways at first, it still spins either way. I am guessing it's stripped but how the heck could it strip on its own? I thought there may be a
trick to it, but last time I took it off I think it just came off without a trick or anything.

maybe just get a whole new advancer? after you dremel off that nut......maybe vise grips and just twist it off? do you have a dyna? either way you will have
to get your guts off that advancer shaft. when you get it off, i dont know if that big bolt comes out.

I`d try latching onto it with some good vise grips, and pulling as I was turning it..may end up threading off..

What you do is double nut the threaded end. Not too much thread so you can bust it off, what out!. Then like rat said, you take a vice grip a 10mm and do
double time on the twist out. This is regular; righT Tight T lefT loose E.
Year gonna need a big fat o-ring behind the shaft is what I think might be there in the line bore of the crankshaft. |

Will try the vise grips, sounds like good ideas, especially the double nut, I can see that working. I'll let you guys know what happens.

Well, tried the vise grips. It worked. That nut is trashed now, its like it's made of plastic (not really just crappy metal). The shaft had about a
1/8" section where the treads were trashed, but it was in the middle of the threads, not on the ends... weird!
Thanks everybody!
