this is some great info guys!!! keep it commin!
if we can get all the measurements (tubes.....rings/grooves/taper).....(lowers....length diameter etc)...maybe we can put this toge4ther in one comprehensive page. |

you cannot switch fork tubes between sandcast lowers and '77//78 SS lowers...totally different tube bottoms....

eric here is the answer to the question you asked me!
http://www.flickr.com/photos/14971874@N03/2431401995/ notice the 71-72 lower bulges towards the top? the 69-70 also has a smaller oil seal that is about 1mm smaller in diameter than all the rest!

btw, the sandcast, and the 71-72 tubes are interchangeable!

I have a set of lowers that appear at first glance to be identical to the '73 - '76 K forks, but they measure, from top to axle center, 1" longer
than standard. I think they may be from an Automatic. Any opinions out there? RR
