Hey, what is going on? You take a long wood screw with a sharp point. You tap a hammer hit into the rubber/metal casing, then screw the seal out by the wood
screw embedding deeper into toe metal case, hits the machined boss that is for the seal. You have enough bite into the seal. You take a vice grip and pull
straight out is that tiny seal. I think the tach gear runs out from the inside. Being that the shaft would have to be bigger than the seal's boss to lick
around the seal's O/D dough D. Wezza got that all finger fucked it up yet?

Before I got a fancy chrome spike from javahut.., I just used a rubber plug from the hardware, and heated up a drill bit, then drilled/burnt a hole in the
bottom center of the rubber plug, then stuffed it in there..worked fine, and no leak or damage to the tach drive..
As far as using sealent in that hole, I would`nt hesitate one bit to use some, and I`ve done it a few times..I just use three bond, instead of the blue stuff ect.. if you want to remove that tach drive, pull the cover, then remove the bolt pointed out in this pic, and the whole gear along with the shaft that becomes flat on the other side of the hole (where it connects to the tach cable) will slide right out.. http://img227.imageshack.us/img227/5959/tachdriveck9.jpg when in doubt..knock`um out...H.C.C.M.F LOCAL 6978 Flint Michigan..3rd most dangerous city in the USA..come back and visit us..sorry we "missed" you the first time..LOL |

Why not just drill out the back of the tach plug?

The Easiest way is to do like myst said Drill out the end, and leave the the tach gears and that little probe that attaches to the tach cable in place.
