The bike has been parked for about 15 years, I rebuilt the top end, didn't look at the clutches.
I am using 10-40 honda oil, the oil tank is a 6 sided chrome chopper tank, holds about 1.5 quarts.
whats going on in there? how should I fix It?

fellas, when my engine is cold the clutch slips bad, espesially in 5th, after about 5 miles it hooks up good. I noticed this after I routed the over flow from
the oil tank to the back of the engine.

...I would first make sure that the cable is adjusted right and releasing all the way. You should have a little bit of slack in your handle with the clutch let
all the way out.... There is also an adjustment under the cover by your kicker to adjust the clutches.. Do you have a book..???
And if I don't belong...Who would have guessed it

That chopper tank should hold more than 1.5 qts...
Mine did the samething...I adjusted the throwout bearing under the cover and my cable and it works great now |

Yea, first adjust the cable at the clutch cover... then "fine tune" it at the lever. If it still slips after you've done that then it's time
for a new clutch pack (friction plates & new springs).

What kind of oil did you put in it? Nothing with slick shit I hope... These motors use a wet clutch that means no modern oil. castrol 20 50......... with no
additives.

If it needs adjusted. There's a lil bolt under the clutch cover. Take a wrench and a screwdriver... Loosen the nut while holding the center with a
screwdriver. Then back the screw out a turn or two to free it. Then slowly tighten the screw until you feel it hit the clutch pack. Then back it off one
quarter of a turn... Then hold the screw driver on the screw while you tighten the nut.................... I believe that's how it goes. Been awhile since
I've had to do it. Correct me if I'm wrong guys... But I'm thinking that is it.... Adjust with cable from there. nnnnnnnnnnnnnn if you put slick
stuff it in. It's gotta be cleaned out and proper oil put in.... Hopefully it's just the nut.

mine did the same thing, & it had sat for years. after the above adjustment procedure, no more slip.
lube your cables too. If you're starting to look wrinkled, don't worry. It covers the scars.
