when we 1st put the copper chopper together and got it on the road it was running great. Andrew rebuilt the carbs and they seemed to be great. Synced them
using the gauges. Started on 1 kick, idled great, and kicked ass when you got on it. As a couple weeks went by, it started acting up. 1st it seemed to run a
little rich. Then is started leaking gas out the overflow tubes (all 4). Then it started running a lot rich. Then it started having an erratic idle.
Didn't want to drop back down to idle after letting off the throttle. After a few seconds it would settle down. Finally fouled #2 plug so now its only
firing on 3 cylinders.
Based on the fuel leaking I know we need to reset the floats. I am wondering if we have a big vacume leak or something else going on. We have new stainless clamps on order for the carb rubbers. They are hard but not brittle. Going to boil them in wintergreen oil to see if that helps.
Short of tearing the damn things all the way back apart again, anyone have any ideas what all we can check next? Based on how good they were running initially and how fast they went bad, I gotta think its something on the outside affecting them.
we're running 120 main jets, pod filters, and 4-2 pipes with small baffles in them. Coils are new chrome ones. new Accel wires. stock points.
thanks for any ideas...
