I got somewhere around 80 from a 2 gallon tank on the Denver chop while jamming back to the roost from the Smokeout a couple of years ago with 71chop.
That's with an 836, weber cam and stock carbs. Some of that was well above the posted limit. Should have slowed down some along the way. It would have
saved us the extra mile to the gas station after I ran it dry!
Everything I say is fully substantiated by my own opinion.

well this time around im building a bigger tank into the bike so hopefully I wont have that issue....although after several hours of riding I can see myself
forgetting to check and running dry...have no idea what my reserve will be yet...Im about 155lbs and will be taking some gear too...dont know how much but I
would say 45 lbs worth...not sure where im going to stick it yet...but will get to that later. I was hoping to get about 45...right now I am running a 15 tooth
front and 48 rear...cant remember why, but what setup will give me the fastest speed at the lowest rpm? lower front or high front?

High front = less RPMs. High back = more rpms. You got drag strip/dirt bike gearing! I would recomend going to at least a 17T. Stock is 18/48 or for K0's
its 17/45 - real close on the ratios. Honda changed them due to chain breakage. Current 530 chains are sure a lot better.
18/48 is a good all around deal, since you already might have a 48T. Some guys like 18/43 for hiway cruising. I doubt that you would like that after running those 15/48's! Rule of thumb - 1 tooth in front is worth 3 teeth in rear. Changing the front by 1 tooth allowed me to switch back and forth w/o changing chain length. I bungeed a half full GI duffle bag across my rear bitch pad to the short sissy bar for my europe trip. I had my tent and sleeping bag rolled around a very large screwdriver attached to the front end sitting on the front fender. For shorter overnighters, I had a GI backpack with metal frame that I wore - comfortable enough, but I was wishing for a taller sissy bar to latch it onto. You could put on some 6 gallon Fatboy tanks and some fiberglass bags and not have to worry about this shit - maybe put the coils on the front of the bags. Whooyee - that would be a sight.
