Quick Side-Cover (Stocker) Question....... |
Lead | |
|
Will the side-covers (oil/electric) off a '72 (I believe '71-'76 style covers) fit on a '69-'70 model? I know they're a little
different style (non-louvered) but will they physically fit? Ebay buyer question; don't want to sell the guy something he can't use! Thanks!

Not really, the K0 side covers are fatter and have slightly different mounting rubbers which I think you can change it out. The oil tank is
wider on K0's. Might be able to get way with the electric side. You CAN put K0's on 71-76's, the oil cap looks a little funny with all of that
space.

Thanks Oldhemi! So the frame is the same; the oil tank is different? Could he switch to a later oil-tank and run 'em? This guy may be willing to do what
it takes; he's got perfect '69-'70 covers and wants to keep them on a shelf (understandably) and run something cheaper for daily driving (afraid of
theft/loss). I've got an exta oil-tank I could throw him, so ???.

The oil tank mounts on the frame are the same, I put a K0 oil tank on a K4 frame, no problem.

I happen to be cleaning out some of my shed today and see that I have a '71 - '76 up oil tank cover.
I just tried to put it on my Sandcast. No way no how. The K0 oil tanks are wider. The cover is at least 1/2" larger - deeper. '71 - '76 tanks are ID'd by 3 round indentations on the side facing the cover - the outside. K0's do not have these - they are flat. As I said earlier, you CAN put K0's on '71-'76 tanks but NOT the other way around. BTW, I keep my sandcovers off in a box also. They crack too easy. I was planning on getting some repros - Not that Maico crap. Paint is expensive and beyond my ability, I wonder what this guy is going to run - buzz bomb black? David Silver Spares sells them along with the airbox and I think CMS in Holland does also.
Here is an ebay seller that I would use - cheaper than the 1st two that I mentioned. When(IF) I have some money again, I am going to use this guys: http://cgi.ebay.com/CB-750-K0-RH-Side-Panel_W0QQitemZ290197156956QQihZ019QQcategoryZ10460QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1742.m153.l1262 Yamihaha is real expensive.
