I asked a welder I know if he could KONG my frame and he said that it isn't safe to do, is he right? or do i need to find a different welder?

I never Knew him, but every one here speaks very highly of the man, I cant see it not being safe, I think i'm going to find another welder

Find a welder that has faith in his own work, and he will be more then happy to do it for you.

Depends on his definition of safe I guess. I had a welder tig my konged frame, and I've had no problems for 4,000 miles. I'm not sure what you're
planning on doing, but I put a heavier backbone in, and gusseted the neck and the seat area for extra support. I also welded some solid bar stock in the rear
of the frame where the shocks mount. That seemed like it would be pretty weak after removing those horizontal frame rails.

That is what I tell people when I don't want to do the job.LOL If it is done right it is as safe as it was
when Honda built it.
