It fits on my 74, but the hinge and latch plates are on the wrong side. So if the hinges are on the left on the 78 you're good.
Don't know the number, there is a sticker on the back, but it's pretty faded and hard to read. can take a better look. $20 plus shipping sounds good to me, (roughly 15miles to shippers) I was able to ship a stock seat to georgia for $18 a couple weeks ago, this is a little heavier and bulkier so may take $25+ for shipping Ken. |

"here's one for ya:
http://picasaweb.google.com/merc2dogs/DragSpecSeat been taking up space here. Ken." Mine must be the chop-top version. http://s221.photobucket.com/albums/dd278/Chalfa1980/?action=view¤t=DSCN1894.jpg Mine has threaded holes on both sides; can switch the hinge and latch if needed. But isn't a '78 seat longer too? I was told by several here that an early seat wouldn't work on a '77-'78 frame because it's longer in the seat area. Not tryin' to f#&k up a nice deal; but you might want to check and make sure! |

Wow! does look like the same seat!
Mine seems to be specific for the later bikes, there's only a single pedastal for the latch side. So don't think length would be a problem. Ken |
