Some of you may have seen posts from me a few times looking for a guy named Scott Donovan or his bike "freebird". Nobody ever piped up that they knew
him and have been dissapointed that I haven't been able to get in contact with him or his sister (Kelly). I got close with the whole family. He was the one
who got me into cb750's when I was 19. I was dating Kelly and wanted to buy a bike and he had a cb750 chopper. I liked it so much but didn't have that
kind of money so he took me down to Tempe Motorcycle Repair which had tons of cb750's and parts. He got with the guys in there (Frank and ???) and got them
to take a few parts bikes and build me a stocker for cheap. We rode a few times, I went off to college, and me and Kelly broke up when I got home for good.
I've been trying to get a hold of either of them for 14 years.
Well, out of the blue last week, Kelly contacts me on myspace. Been trying to find me for years, yada yada yada, and we've been catching up. Bad part - Scott had a tough go at life and because of bad stuff, died a few years back. She said he and her father kept up on if she found me and they were all hoping to hear from me. Sad that he died, especially as I never got to see him again.
I asked her about "freebird". Turns out that his daughter still has the bike. Saw a pic of it on Kelly's myspace. It's missing some parts like carbs, cables, and such bacause when Scott was having trouble, he sold some stuff. Good thing is it's all parts that I have sitting around. She says everyone wishes they could hear the bike run again. So I told her to get with his daughter, and see if she'll let me fix it up. Hopefully, I'll get the chance to repay Scott and maybe put a smile on the rest of the family!!
