Scribestone wrote: As a rule, PM's for arguments is OK. But I don't think anything is gained by making engineering discussions (however heated) anything less than public. Unlike arguing about race, religion or retsina, there is a right answer.Like arguing about race, religion or retsina, believing the wrong thing can get you hurt. Though in this case, it's unlikely to be badly hurt... So for the benefit of any one who has an interest in the whole issue, my belief is that this sort of thing should be put to bed publically. You might not see it that way, but then, you're not fixing the engineering disasters that people build, or worse, sell on E-Bay. As for a build off, well I've kind of got three builds on the go, a couple of other things to deal with (a stainless steel 6-1 for one thing), and a queue of other stuff to get on with. However, if it makes you happy... http://www.thechopperunderground.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=28824 You might have to sign up to see the pics, but it's a twin shock Bay Area/Café Racer thing I'm building. With 4" in the swing arm. But it's a kawasaki so keep it quiet, huh? |

Retsina? Pine flavored wine is ok with me... When I was a drinkin' man, that is. JPSWino may have to weigh in on that issue now... oh good grief what have
I done again!?!
I agree that errors should be corrected for the safety and edification of all involved. I agree that not all paperwork transfers to the field unscathed. That's where "Back the the drawing board" got it's well deserved start... But then again, if we didn't use that drawing board, a lot of hits and misses would occur in the field. Correct? Someone still has to do some cipherin' and scratchin' on paper (or dirt) to plan it out. I've watched people who just start building without a blueprint. Egads! The dialog had seeped over from pure scholastic inquiry to personal slights very quickly and I didn't like the direction this thread was veering. Once that line is crossed then the original purpose of the thread is lost in the back/forth battle of one-upmanship. I enjoy intellectual debate but sniping is another issue. My suggestion to take it outside was an attempt to diffuse the growing turf war. Neither one of you really want to get into a pissin' match over this do you? Well, maybe you Blackjack. You seemed to be scrapping from the very beginning. Now here I am, frittering away the day with explaining why I asked this thread to have a knot put in it. That pretty much makes my point about getting off topic and into hair pulling. My original question was answered when Firehawk did the smart thing and emailed the ebay seller and found out the Bob was a hardtail with strutted non-functioning shocks. Nice work Firehawk! I should have thought of that. Hindsight is 20/20 eh? If someone wants to have a go at fabricating a, ahem , "working" (definition varies) model, be my guest. I'm still trying to get the Mud Pickle completed. Maybe in an eon or so I'll take a stab at making a wonky shocked bobber. Till then, toodles! -Scribe |

this "noobie" still thinks it wouldnt work. Sitting like that one is looks okay, but once a grown man sits on the bike, squats it down, it'll
look like a broke back bike.

Not to even try to argue, but I think as it sits, minus the struts, it may work, just not very well.
