If I manage to get it all in for under $6500 on my project I will be amazed. I have a bobber with next to nothing in it, maybe $1700 total. The ground up build
is a different story. Think about it, a hundred here, a hundred there, 1200 for that...does not take long to run up. That is a very nice bike with the
exception of the seat (ironically, he seems to think it's the big selling point). We are not the intended market for that bike. My guess is it was built to
show, did not get a trophy, got a for sale sign instead. If anybody here built a bike like that there is no way in hell we could only put 200 miles on it
unless somebody really broke out the cheddar.
If I can't kill it, f*#k it, or paint flames on it...I have no use for it.

let me say this about the one's that buy a bike done and then tear it apart over time fixing everything.
that is the same as building in my eyes. i had a friend call the other day and told me that he was made fun of for wearing a I BUILT MINE t'shirt. he has had everything off of his bike but the motor, and has put it back together. not to say that he problly put more miles on his bike than a lot here. to me that is just fucked up. just because he didnt want to change anything on it and put it back together the way it was dose not mean that he dosent diserve the t'shirt. and for the bike for sale,, i damn sure hope he gets what he wants because before long i might have two on ebay and would hope to at least get 5k for each one. |

I agree,
That is a very nice ride. I hope he gets a bunch for it. Heck I got almost that laying around in parts waiting to start my build. 950 frame, 500 carbs, and another 500 in the wheels by the time tommy and baz gets them done. Then all the small stuff. So it don't take long to rack up the bucks. Lets just hope the buyer don't push it off a roof some where in new york.

I see its hit $6,600 and over 5 days left .. .. I say good for him .
That only makes all of yours worth that much more.. I've gotta say .. I'm surprised its gottten that far ...Thats a first that I can remember .. The bike done well and has some high end stuff on it ... My Honda builds start at $6K and certainly doesn't include PM brakes, Accutronic forwards or Danny Gray seats .. |

Well, I hope the build I am on right now comes out as nice. No it won't have big industry name parts on it. But it will have hand-made everything. I hope my work shows as well as the factory name vacume packed parts on the bike in question. There won't be a pile of chrome either. There will be many "new" parts though, as I cannot make tires, coils, cables, grips and hardware. We'll see and you guys will surely be the judges. But I bet it will come down to the old saying "beauty is in the eye of the beholder". I have been in the category of the same person above, never "building my own", but "rebuilding" my own. My shirt doesn't say "I rebuilt mine" so I figured I'd give scratch building a shot and it ain't easy, as many already know. To compound things, I decided to attempt this with a 90 day deadline. Never under-estimate a determined individual and a few bucks. I hope the recognized value of my build is half of the $6600 this bike will no doubt fetch so I hope he gets his price. BUT, I am building for fun as most of you guys are so I guess who cares? Besides, this hondachopper.com thing and my bikes are my mental vacation away from the rest of the world and I like it that way! I wish him the best in his sale, I may be there one day too. Just wondering about his description in my earlier post and was quite amazed reserve had not been met yet. How much do you think the reserve could be?
"In the wind, with my mind on my money and my money on my mind"...now I just gotta get some.

clean bike, expensive parts and good advertizing. AND, there seems to be a market for it right now. I was partial to that green amen that bounced around ebay
last summer and ended up on Arkansas Craiglist around the holidays for 3K + or - - it did *NOT* have some of those high priced items.
Hmmmm. Got to wonder if these items are whats driving the price up ( where it should be). "We must all hang together, or assuredly we shall all hang separately." Ben Franklin at signing of Declaration of Independence or was it Dawg at
the WHCM to the other HCMF's.

" Wherever I go the people walk past all the Harleys to check her out,"
Couldn't been many if it's got less than 200 miles on it.
Everything I say is fully substantiated by my own opinion.

This guy is a friend of mine which I helped with this project, as he helped me with mine. Guy's we all know that we can throw a bike together for 1,000 and
it will look kick ass and function great. I've done it.Get your catologs out and start adding up every little cover that has been chromed, arlen ness
mirrorrs, arlen ness grips, pm brakes, aluminium tank, cycle exchange carbs, ....did you see the jack shaft ...e-mail him and ask him for a picture of it,
its the cats ass. it rides on a bearing that is on the motor mount plate. I know that I put a 15 dollar trailer fender on my bike but he put a 200.00 west
coast fender on there. And yes I do agree the way he is advertising it he is aiming to a crowd of yuppies that have more money than they know what to do with.
He knows a bike builder would build one not buy one,he isn't trying to sell it to you. he has some serious cash invested in this not to mention the
countless hours of work. It's not my taste but Dave (the owner) really wanted a high end, high dollar ride but didn't want to sit on a v-twin, Atleast
he put the best motor ever in it. He finished it in august and then put it away in sept. so the 200 miles on it or for real he only really rode it to the
local bar for bike night and maybe for a little cruise around town.
