I am currently looking to change my gearing to get better highway performance. I have a 18/48 on there right now with a 16" rear wheel. any suggestions on where to find sprockets for the cb750? or are sprockets pretty universal?

LRT will hook you up w/sprockets and most anything you need for 750's. Email him or post a "YO,LRT" in needed/wanted forum"
http://www.lowridersbysummers.com/ click here for sprocket chart: http://www.dropbears.com/u/utilities/sprocket.htm BTW, what year and model motor you got? AND what size chain/sprockets 530 or 630? This you need to know when looking. All of the SOHC's have the same 5th gear ratio, but some of the other gears were changed during the years and models. Your 16" tire is prolly as high or real close as a 18" stock tire, so it won't have too much effect on the ratio. "We must all hang together, or assuredly we shall all hang separately." What kind of speed/s are you wanting to average on the highway?
I run the stock 18/48, and run a constant 70MPH+ for long distances, and often hit 90MPH when passing ect..I like the 18/48, cause my bike still has alota "take off" at higher speeds.. you could maybe go 18/45, and drop the rpms down a bit, yet still have good highway acelaration.. But I would`nt get too carried away, or she`s gonna be a dog on the big road..IMO and/but of course your weight, and wether or not you usually have a passenger will come into play.. 74rat when in doubt..knock`um out...H.C.C.M.F LOCAL 6978 Flint Michigan..3rd most dangerous city in the USA..come back and visit us..sorry we "missed" you the first time..LOL |

I am running a 78 motor with 17/48 sprockets and at 70 I am running 5200 rpms with a 130-90-17 rear tire.

18/43, the 43 rear came on most early DOHC models79-81 or so that would be close although I've seen a few 630's on some...so be sure

I don't know if your bike will have enough power at 4500, may be kind of a struggle going down the highway, especially if there is any wind. I had mine
geared at one time to do 4600 at about 65 and the thing didn't like to pull itself down the highway, I live in North Dakota so its all flat land also,
almost no hills. My .02
