I grew up in a small town, (still live there). As a kid I was a smart-ass punk. I used to piss people off
all the time by just generally being an asshole. I has real issues with showing people respect just because
they were older than me, or because they were successful in their life. I always felt that respect was a
two-way street, I'll show you respect and you should do the same for me. People that didn't return that
respect got to see me be an asshole. In my town, at that time, there were a lot of older people that thought
they were somehow better than most. The type of people that went to church on Sunday so they could
gossip about the ones that hadn't shown up. These people, and others, didn't like me at all. I was always
being accused of things like vandalism, theft, etc. After a while rumors went around that I was into Satanism
and all sorts of strange activities. It seemed that people that didn't like me labeled me as some evil Satan
worshiper.Somewhere around that time I heard Danzig's song "Am I Demon". I was a big fan of his music,
and that phrase just sort of stuck in my head. Around 1999 when I was signing up for some tech board to get
info about a computer I had, that's the first thing that came to mind for a screen name. I've used it many times
since, but now this is about the only place I still use it.
