Hello. Pretty new to the bike building scene and new to the site. Looks like it will be very helpful!! Been riding most of my life on a old Triumph Bonne
and a FL Shovel. Recently took it upon myself to build a 754 chop. Was a POS when I started, but its coming along. I guess I have one of those Finch boxes
that contains all the wiring. Most of the wiring in said box is shot and I have been slowly rewiring it. Almost done. My question is this...the box contains
the stock coils but the plug wires are missing/broken/shot. I am curious as to where/how to get new plugs and install them. They kind of just push on and I
am not very familiar with them. Should I get Harley coils or just use what I have. The bike ran(well kinda) when I took it apart for the redo, so I know the
coils are good. Looking to get it finished in a few weeks as the season is getting started. Any help is greatly appreciated.

If there's room inside a set of dyno coils make these run better and start easier. Stock coils have short wires and were mounted in the front of the
engine. So you have aftermarket coils of some sort prolly... If they push on with little rubber cups.. Then you can just go down to napa and buy copper core
spark plug wires. They will come with the rubber cups and lil brass squeeze on fittings.
If your looking for new coils all together with new wires also. You might try our own Lrt.... He sells just about anything for these bikes. Or www.cyclexchange.net He's also a member here and has a bunch of 750 stuff. A photo might come in handy to identify what you have if you have a digital camera and you can post to a free photobucket site and link it here for others to help you through...... |

The 69-78 coils didn't have replaceable wires, they were actually molded to the coils. The later models (DOHC) had removeable wires. Sounds like you may
have those, in which case you can use any automotive wires....solid core or suppression, doesn't matter.
Dyna's will not fit in a Finch box. |

Ok good. The bike is titled as a '73. Motor #s read CB750E-2711695. Its 12" over on a rigid frame of unknown origin, Kinda looks like an old AEE frame
from the ads, but I won't swear to it. As far as coils go they are stock Honda coils that do not remove themselves from the coil. They had an Automotive
wire pushed into them and held together with electrical tape, as was most of the wiring. I have since rewired most of it running the wires thru the frame, and
am stuck on the bastardization of the plug wires. I didn't think the Dyna coils would fit this box as I have one on my Shovel and its as big as both of the
Honda coils. Technically, I didn't even know about a Finch Box until I found this website, which is pretty informative. I guess I am just Honda stupid. I
will try and get some pics up of the bike and the box for you guys to get a better feel of what I am talking about.

I can get these adaptors to splice the wires on ..
Just make sure you still have some of the wire left on the coil to attach to .. or get another 750 coil..
thats the way Finch did it back in the 70s .. Coils were a bit limited back then.. Most all coils are bigger than the early 750s with the molded wires .. Thats why I use them pretty often .. easier to sneak out of the way sometimes..
Build it the way you want it ..... then learn how to ride it like you own it..

Ok, I THINK I got the pics up where you can see em. (I hope anyway!) Tommy I have seen your website once before and am digging those flat clamps for the
exhaust. I am going to run a set of "Witches Fingers?". That's what the guy at the shop I bought them from told me they were called. Been sitting
on a shelf collecting dust since '75 or something. Whatever, I just thought they were cool and liked the fact that they are glass-packed. I have open pipes
on my Shovel and Trumpet and was in the need for something mellower. I figure the bike will garner enough attention and I don't need any unwanted mess from
the local Barney Fifes. As seen in the pics the front end isn't on yet as I need to get neck bearings too. I bought them once before, but..... Long story
and now the bottom one's trashed. Some of it is still embedded in the drywall of the garage. As for the plug adapters, where can I get some and what type
of plug wire can I use to hook it all together. I really want to get this beast done this year!
